Inaugurated in 1963 Marchwood Yacht Club is a self-help club relying on the skills and talents of members to keep annual costs down. To achieve this all members are expected to take an active part in maintaining and running the club with regular work parties and/or regular club duties, the club's motto is "if it needs doing, do it". This has resulted in the building of our own pontoons, the Trafalgar Dining Room extension and our very own moorings barge, "Ethos" in 2021.

The clubhouse, committee room and store rooms (Receiving Rooms) are historic buildings originally part of The Royal Naval Armaments Depot at Marchwood which opened in 1815.

Amongst our membership there are those who are complete beginners to members who are Ostar Race winners, all are welcome. Marchwood Yacht Club has approximately 345 memberships which together with associates and families means there are over 550 of us.

Dinghy sailing opportunities are available to youngsters both from within our club and to local residents on Tuesday evenings during the summer with our Cadets group. We are affiliated to the RYA and whilst not a teaching establishment, Marchwood Yacht Club has evolved into a club for everyone who enjoys life afloat.

In addition to the well supported social life in our bar, galley and clubhouse, the club organises Wednesday evening racing in the summer, weekend Solent rallies, including some voyages further afield as well as a full social programme in the clubhouse during the winter months.

Marchwood Yacht Club has its own deep and shallow draft moorings situated at the head of Southampton water, close to the Southampton Container Port. The club also boasts a large boat yard, with the ability to lift and store 170 mono hull yachts with a maximum length of 40 foot. We also have our own slipways and foreshore.
