Commodore's Update - August 20
Published 18:52 on 20 Aug 2020
Hello all,
As you will have noticed by the increasing number of comments on social media, that we have an ongoing problem with unwanted people getting onto our pontoons and other MYC property. The general committee have discussed this problem at length. We have looked into getting a security company to police these areas but the cost to do this comes in at about £5,000 per month, we considered this to be a bit excessive. We intend to purchase some 2m high Hera's fencing and signage to secure our property, but this may take a little time.
We have spoken to the local police and their advice to us is to dial 999 if the youths do not leave our property when ask to do so or if they get abusive towards members. We strongly advise that you do not get confrontational with these people.
We will continue to address this problem,in the meantime we must keep the pontoon gate code a secret from these people and keep the gates to the foreshore locked at all times.
Regards Simon
