Commodore's Update - June 09
Published 21:08 on 9 Jun 2020
As we enter week 12 of the lockdown, very little has changed for us since last week, but we are still meeting as a committee once a week by video link. The main topic of last night's meeting was how we go about reopening the bar when we are allowed to. This presents with quite a few issues. Obviously we must conform with the governments guidelines in all cases, but these guidelines have yet to be issued.
These are just some of the things we are discussing so that we can be as ready as possible when the time comes that bars can reopen.
We may have to use the court yard initially to consume our drinks, this may mean erecting the marquee.
A one way system in and out of the club house may be considered,ie,in the main door and out of the fire exit onto the court yard.
We may have to limit opening times of the bar initially
Quite possibly there will be contactless payment only for purchases at the bar, No cash.
We may have to change the patio tables outside for the plastic tables to allow us to social distance from each other.
We will provide signage reminding us to social distance.
We may have to use disposable plastic glasses for a while.
We will probably only have a limited stock behind the bar initially.
We are looking into protecting the bar staff with some kind of shielding between either side of the bar.
We will have to consider whether bar staff want to volunteer their services at this difficult time.
We are looking carefully into the hygiene of the club house, court yard and the furniture in the court yard.
Just a few of the things the committee has to discuss in order to reopen the bar when allowed to. More will become apparent as the government release the lockdown further and I will keep you updated as things progress. Remember, social distancing is your best friend at the moment.
