Below is a report written by Mike Hawkins, our bar manager. Please take some time to read and digest it as he has put a lot of work into producing his report. Bar re-open (not yet)

  • Commodore's Update - June 23

Hi all, Finally some positive news this week. As I am writing this weeks update, the government has just announced that bars and restaurants will be able to open from July the 4th. We have discussed this at last night's general committee meeting and the bar manager and house have discussed the best way forward for us. It would appear that the 2m self distancing rules remain in place unless it is not possible

  • Commodore's Update - June 16

Hello all, A slightly different update this week. The AGM is 5 months away, but 5 months can pass very quickly,so I have asked the general committee what will happen if social gatherings are still forbidden, come November. Rule 6.1 states that "An AGM of the club shall be held before the last day of November". If social gatherings or social distance rules are still in place in November, which I hope they

  • Commodore's Update - June 09

Hello all, As we enter week 12 of the lockdown, very little has changed for us since last week, but we are still meeting as a committee once a week by video link. The main topic of last night's meeting was how we go about reopening the bar when we are allowed to. This presents with quite a few issues. Obviously we must conform with the governments guidelines in all cases, but these guidelines

  • Commodore's Update - May 26

Hi all, Well, launching of boats is underway and according to the boat park committee, its all going well. Please be mindful of the social distancing rules of keeping at least 2 metres apart. This virus is totally invisible and none of us know what our friends at the club have been in contact with before visiting MYC. Because the average age of our membership is relatively high, we potentially have quite a

  • Commodore's Update - May 19

Hi all Well, we finally reopened the club last Wednesday and members have been tending to their boats. The general committee were quite concerned that the boat park could become overrun with members trying to work on their boats but I am pleased to say that this has not been an issue thus far. Launching will commence this Saturday the 23rd. The boat park have

Hi all, I trust you are all well. We are continuing with our security measures in place which are working well, however, someone has tried, unsuccessfully, to break into the wheelhouse on the club launch,of which the police were informed. Some of you will have seen, the photos of MYC and the boats on Facebook,if you're boat is in the photos, you can see that all is well. To me, it seems
